Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
If you have recently experienced a cardiac event such as a heart attack or a coronary bypass surgery, cardiac rehab is recommended as your next step of recovery. At White Plains Center for Nursing Care, our cardiac rehab program is structured as an inpatient experience that targets recovery and the prevention of future cardiac events.
Cardiac rehab can last anywhere from a few weeks to three months or more depending on a person’s condition and what their goals for recovery are. Our program is led by a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals including physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, nutrition counselors and other specialists. One of the first steps our team takes is to conduct an initial evaluation to examine each patients’ physical condition. Based on this assessment, physical activities are arranged to target strength-training, mobility and overall physical health. Along with implementing an exercise routine, we provide lifestyle education in areas such as nutrition and care management.
Goals of our cardiac rehab program include:
- Decreasing risk for future cardiac events
- Increasing physical activity
- Developing a nutrition plan
- Losing weight
- Regaining function for daily activities
