Wound Care

Wound Care & Treatment Center

If you or a loved one has recently suffered from a wound, our team at White Plains Center for Nursing Care is here to help. Our wound care team is equipped to address a wide range of wounds, including bed sores, pressure ulcers, cuts, lesions and other open body injuries.

One of the first steps our team will take is to assess your wound. There are four stages of wounds, with stage I representing more superficial wounds and stage IV being the most severe, often involving permanent damage to the skin and bones. Once we have identified the stage your wound is in, we can develop a treatment plan that optimizes your healing. Components of care we incorporate within treatment include medical and nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, and nutrition counseling. Our goal is to provide you with the support you need to get back on your feet and regain function for everyday tasks.

It is important to address wounds with immediacy and take the necessary steps to prevent further complications. Some of the steps our wound care team takes include the following:

  • Stopping the bleeding
  • Cleaning the wound
  • Preventing infection
  • Closing and dressing the wound
  • Changing the dressing
  • Providing patient education for self-management
